It’s been just over a week since I wrote a couple of posts outlining my two primary cross-training activities right now. And I’m happy to see that I’ve continued along the path during that time! In the last week I’ve been to the gym twice for my Every Angle Assault workout, and done 3 sets of pushups, week 1 day 3 and week 2 days 1&2 of the 100 pushup challenge.
I’ve also been to my foot doctor 4 times (FINALLY!) to do therapy on my right foot and heel, hoping to finally get back on the path to health. We’ll see.
My final interesting activity of the week was cleaning out all of my old running magazines! They have been taking up way too much room on my bookshelf, and my wife has been in a ‘clean and organize’ mode the last couple of weeks, and I finally relented. What you see here are the remains of my pile – soon to go into some kind of out-of-sight box.
The pile includes a couple of issues of Runners World each year dating back to 1994! And a few issues each year of New York Running News, later New York Running, the magazine put out by NYRR. I stopped paying NYRR membership dues a couple of years ago, so that pile is at least no longer getting bigger. That collection is big because it includes the NYC Marathon program and results from most years 1995-2011 and those magazines were typically pretty thick. Not pictured here is my growing stack of Marathon & Beyond, which is only 3 years old. Since it only comes out quarterly, that stack is safe for now 🙂
The most interesting of the old magazines I found was the very special Runners World tribute to Fred Lebow, in the Jan 2005 issue. Said issue also recounts Oprah’s 4:29:20 finish at 1994 MCM! Fun stuff…
Anyway, thinking of going for a run on Wednesday to test my foot and see if it is improving or not. I hope so because I have another half marathon, fittingly the Fred Lebow Manhattan Half, in a little over a month!
