Turned the big 38 today. Since I have no willpower at all, I started my day with one of those sinful cinnamon rolls you get from the corner coffee/pastry street vendors. But it's OK, I had a good run last night! Yum, yum!

Shin splints gone, but still had a bad run :(
December 29, 2008 – Posted in: injury running UncategorizedFirst off, this article really spoke to me, as I know I'm carrying around at least 5 pounds of excess fat these days. I won't know for sure until I get home from my vacation and can weigh in, but I feel fat. I'm sure it caused the shin splints that ruined my run yesterday. [...]
Skipped it
December 20, 2008 – Posted in: UncategorizedDecided to just skip the Ted Corbitt 15k this morning. With the nasty weather, they ended up changing it to a fun run. Also, I already have my 9 races for Marathon eligibility, so there was really no need to run. With the slippery conditions, I could not have gotten the quality run I was [...]
64 degrees? 6:30pm? For real?
December 15, 2008 – Posted in: UncategorizedWow - gotta get out and run tonight. It will probably be a late run as I know I'm occupied till at least 10ish. Tuesday forecast? light snow and sleet likely in the afternoon.

So close!
November 2, 2008 – Posted in: Uncategorized4:31:26. While I missed 4:30, I'm still very satisfied with the run. It was great. I'll write a full report later. It was close up until mile 23 or so. I had some knee pain and ended up running the last few miles more at 12 pace than 11-11:30, and that was the difference!
22 minutes ?!?!?
November 1, 2008 – Posted in: UncategorizedGood thing I stayed up late last night to register for the New York City Triathlon right when registration opened at midnight. I see on their website that the race sold out in 22 minutes! Guess they'll need to go to a lottery system next year... Gotta get to sleep now. Need to be up [...]
Some final thoughts
November 1, 2008 – Posted in: UncategorizedNew York City Marathon kicks off in 15 hours. Getting nervous about the race now. Not nervous about the distance, or my ability to finish it. This is my 9th marathon, and I know I can cover the distance. I'm nervous about my ability to finish in 4:30. It will not be easy. The stars [...]
Looking ahead
October 31, 2008 – Posted in: UncategorizedWe may be a mere 36 hours from the start of the New York City Marathon, but I'm looking ahead to another big New York City sporting event - namely the New York City Triathlon. Registration opens in a mere 2 hours and 35 minutes. Need to stay up to make sure I get in. [...]
